What kind of e-reader shpuld I purchase?

I am looking to purchase an e reader for my mom for Christmas but I have no idea how to decide between the Barnes and Noble Nook, The Sony Reader or the Amazon Kindle. I'm trying to keep the spending limit to $300. Can anyone tell me which e reader is honestly the best choice?
